Introducing
Geometric Impressionism
I started working on an innovative new art style in 2004. It combines three image layers: color shapes, object shapes, and geometric shapes. My design philosophy was based on the fact that nature often creates life using the “golden spiral,” which is in the “golden ratio” or “divine proportion” of 1:1.618.
I call the golden ratio the “beautiful division of space.” My art emphasizes the beauty of spaces and shapes, whereas traditional art might focus on painterly effects such as brush strokes and textures.
The color layer comprises color shapes placed next to each other to give the impression of continuous color or tone. Similar to the Impressionist technique used by Van Gogh and others.
The object layer is where subjects in the scene are placed.
The geometric layer divides all objects, including the framework, into pleasing golden ratio divisions and delineates them using custom geometric patterns.
The result is graphic art that speaks to you deeply, similar to music such as jazz.
